Education / Study

We assist young people in particular in their vocational orientation and the subsequent start to their careers. We have grouped these activities together in our igus® Young Talents programme. As part of this programme we help young people start their careers. Our offerings include, for example, vocation orientation at events such as Girls' Day and Boys' Day and various internships. Or we accompany you on your way through your studies with research and final papers. You can, of course, join us directly and choose one of our apprenticeship trades.

 Laura - trainee industrial clerk

"While I was still at school, I did an internship at igus®. At that time I already knew that I would like to work here after passing my exams. I very much liked the tasks and duties as well as the way the colleagues communicate with each other. They are all on friendly terms; there aren't any doors, which means there aren't any obstacles to speaking to a person. That is something I also notice about my supervisors – they always have an open ear for me. And another great thing is that I am allowed to take on responsibility as a trainee. For examples, I was given a free hand in planning and organising our Girls' Day. Something I find particularly exciting is the possibility of spending a few weeks at an international branch of igus® as part of my training. I will certainly make use of this offer and go to England."

Artur - ERP process engineer

I applied for a practical semester at igus® in 2016, during my studies of mechanical engineering and I started out at the drylin® linear technology unit a little later. An intense familiarisation period gave me the independence to take on my own assignments and one thing led to another: from the assignments we developed a topic for my bachelor thesis, which I wrote at the company. Today, I am responsible for the implementation of new functions in the inventory management system and take care of their implementation and introduction in the various departments of the factory. This means a great deal of responsibility. But that I exactly what I like about my job and provides a great deal of variety in my work here.

Working student travels around the world with igus® Smart

As part of the iglidur® on Tour project, this Smart was fitted out with 56 iglidur® plain bearings by students from Cologne University of Applied Sciences in order to prepare it for its journey. The Smart was then driven around the world by working student Sascha, who regularly blogged his experiences.
